Women, Gender and Sexuality in Ancient Iraq
In March, the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology hosts the free four-part Tuesday-night series “Spotlight on Women in the World.” On 14 March at 6 pm Dr. Jerrold Cooper of Johns Hopkins University examines issues such as virginity, marriage, adultery, prostitution, the role of palace and elite women, women’s work, and cultic sexuality in ancient Iraq.
