Women in the Courts of the Ancient Maya
In March, the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology hosts the free four-part Tuesday-night series “Spotlight on Women in the World.” On 14 March at 6 pm Simon Martin, Research Specialist in Penn Museum’s American Section, examines issues such as virginity, marriage, adultery, prostitution, the role of palace and elite women, women’s work, and cultic sexuality in the ancient Maya world.
